Bahamian CurrencyQ: What is the currency of the Bahamas?

A: The Bahamas currency is the Bahamian Dollar. You may use the United Stated Dollar (USD) for most if not all transactions while in the Abacos and throughout the Bahamas. The exchange rate is 1/1 with the US Dollar. You may be given Bahamian currency back for your purchases so before heading back to the US, you may need to exchange your leftover Bahamian currency back to USD. Unless you plan to come back soon, which we hope, or to keep as keepsake.

Q: Why do people drive on the left side of the road?

A: It’s very important that you drive on the left side of the road. It’s the law! You see, The Bahamas was once a British Crown colony, during which it inherited a lot of the laws and regulations, including driving on the left side of the road. Since 1973, The Bahamas has been an independent commonwealth of Great Britain.

Q: Why is the sand so beautiful and the water so clear?

A: Nature bestowed the gift of beauty and purity on to the Bahamas! We don’t question Mother Nature.
